California, in addition to other states, has banned talking or texting while driving unless you’re using a hands-free device.  We found an interesting article answering the question of whether or not messing around with your phone’s GPS tracker service while driving is legal.   Is button pushing to adjust GPS tracking features just as illegal as texting with no hands-free device?

A California Highway Patrol officer responded by saying that it is not illegal to do so IF you are able to to adjust/operate the cell phone’s GPS tracking features while maintaining control of the vehicle at a speed safe for driving conditions at the time.  Sounds like common sense is the key here.
