Georgia Sheriff’s Department Gets GPS Tracking to Slow Down Pursuits

Rockdale County officers have received GPS tracking devices designed to improve safety during pursuits by slowing them down. When a pursuit is under way a dart-like GPS tracking device can be deployed from the officer’s car using a safe air compression system.  After the dart is affixed to the fleeing vehicle, officers then begin receiving regular updates on it’s location via GPS tracking software, and as a result, protecting officer and public safety.
