As car accidents remain the leading cause of death for U.S. teens, TrackingTheWorld is reminding parents of the benefits of GPS tracking devices to monitor teenage driving habits for both safety and peace of mind during prom and graduation season.
“Real time vehicle trackers allow parents to know where their teen’s vehicle is at all times, how fast it is moving, and even alert them to harsh driving such as sudden braking,” said Gilbert Walz, CEO of TrackingTheWorld, a firm exclusively specializing in tracking devices and GPS tracking software for more than 11-years.
For monitoring teenage drivers, TrackingTheWorld recommends its EnduroPro tracker, a compact real time tracking device which is easy to install and operate. The device can simply be placed in the vehicle’s glove compartment or under a seat, and can be magnetically mounted using TrackingTheWorld’s affordable MiniMag case.
With GPS tracking software services and an Internet connection, the EnduroPro also allows parents to create geo-fences, a set of pre-determined boundaries, for their teen. If the vehicle moves outside of the boundary, the tracker will immediately transmit an alert notifying the parents via programmed cell phone numbers. As added safety feature, the EnduroPro also comes equipped with a panic button which, when pressed, will automatically alert parents or other family members through a rapid series of location alerts, indicating that the teen needs emergency assistance.

If you’re a business owner with even a small fleet of vehicles, you’re certainly aware of how much time and energy is invested into tracking the mileage on your company vehicles. Manual mileage logging and then data entry of the information required to create a useable report is inefficient, frustrating and time consuming, and you still have no way of knowing whether your company vehicles are being misused by employees.
As a solution for tedious mileage reporting, TrackingTheWorld GPS tracking software offers automated reporting options, eliminating the need for manual logging, plus other features to assure the proper use of your company vehicles. For example, our tracking software offers geo-fencing which automatically sends alerts via cell phone or email to let you know when a company vehicle leaves a predetermined area. With the use of real time GPS tracking devices for company vehicles you’ll also be alerted to harsh driving patterns. GPS trackers are also ideal for providing an additional level of security for employees, with some models offering a panic alert button, which automatically launches a rapid series of location alerts to preset phone numbers and email addresses.

According to a 2014 study released by the Yale Law Journal, using GPS tracking for covert tracking operations for law enforcement departments is incredibly less expensive than utilizing officers for covert tracking operations. In fact, the study estimated the cost of GPS tracking to be 1000 times more affordable than tracking vehicles the old fashioned way, with officers trailing behind their target in unmarked vehicles.
In the study, the cost comparisons are dramatic– covert tracking using the standard 5 car surveillance box strategy is estimated to cost $275 dollars per hour, yet the cost of GPS tracking for law enforcement covert tracking can range from just 36-cents to around $5 per hour.
GPS tracking for law enforcement has been described as a “game changer” in the law enforcement community for both its cost effectiveness and the number of vehicles that can be tracked simultaneously.
The study included both cell phone GPS tracking units, and GPS tracking systems mounted to target vehicles.

Portage Township Schools on the southeast side of Lake Michigan recently installed GPS trackers on all 110 buses in the school’s fleet. Added as a measure of convenience for both parents and administration, the program was given a “test drive” during summer school to prepare for the beginning of the 2014 school year.
Using GPS tracking software on computers or smart phones, parents and faculty are able to see the exact location of any bus at any time–even on field trip days– While the new GPS tracking system will most assuredly offer parents peace of mind that their child made it to school safely, officials also hope it will be an added convenience for parents of children whose buses are running late. With tracking software, parents will have detailed information on when the bus can be expected, hopefully eliminating the need to call the school officials.
School administration also hopes to use the system to conserve fuel and maintain efficiency by rerouting buses when traffic incidents occur.

You’ve probably seen them in your own community…large metal bins for dropping off clothing donations. As it turns out, not even donations given in good will are exempt from those who rummage through clothing bins in hopes of reselling or keeping the goods. One Baltimore company, that originally thought donations were down, has successfully retrieved stolen goods, and led authorities to recycled clothing thieves with the help of GPS tracking software— and in the process found out that donations weren’t down after all. By placing GPS tracking devices in various clothing items–in pockets, liners, etc., and using GPS tracking software, the company has successfully retrieved several batches of stolen clothing. Company officials use geofencing, a feature of the tracking software to receive cell phone alerts whenever one of their GPS tracking devices leaves the immediate area of the clothing collection bins. The clothing collected by the company is bailed and then shipped to third world countries.

Entrusted with both the safety and education of our children, public school administrators seeking to more effectively manage student transportation are increasingly turning to GPS tracking devices and tracking software to help them efficiently manage bus routes, monitor drivers, and ensure child safety.
Bus Route Planning
In both rural and urban areas, planning for pick-up and drop-off of hundreds, or even thousands of school children requires organization and efficiency. Bus routes must be planned to maximize fuel efficiency, minimize mileage, and be timed perfectly to get students to school on time.
GPS tracking software is beneficial in planning student transportation because of its ability to quickly assist administrators in determining the most efficient route of travel for every bus in a school’s fleet.
Safety First with GPS Devices
The most important responsibility of any public school system is to ensure the safety of its students, and GPS tracking systems have become an additional layer of security for students and drivers on bus routes. With tracking devices installed on each school bus, and the use of GPS tracking software, school administrators are easily alerted if a bus leaves its intended route of travel, if a bus is stopped for any length of time, and direction of travel.
Staff Monitoring
While no one wants to think of the possibility of irresponsible school staff members responsible for the safety of school children, it is an unfortunate reality. For these situations, GPS tracking systems provide a cost effective way to monitor school bus drivers for speed, location, and possible misuse of a school fleet vehicles.
GPS tracking software can protect your drivers in the event they are falsely accused of disregarding speed limits or other committing other violations. With GPS tracking devices, routes of travel are precisely recorded and are may be played back in real time.

It’s hard to believe that the history of man wanting to know his location on this planet dates back as far as the 1st Century and a stone with magnetic properties known as lodestone, but it does. For more than two thousand years, humans have searched for and developed tools to help them navigate land and sea. Beginning with Chinese lodestone ladles, the monumental efforts of mapping our seas, and the development of the compass, GPS tracking history is rich with landmark developments that have led us to where we are today. Here’s a great article on the history of GPS tracking:
