GPS trackers for Construction Companies

Businesses and organizations of every type and size use GPS tracking systems everyday.  Here are a few of the most common industries using GPS trackers to improve the way they do business.

Law Enforcement and Private Investigators:  GPS tracking for law enforcement and private investigations provides a cost-effective method of vehicle tracking without the need for around-the-clock human surveilance.  GPS tracking systems with motion sensors alert law enforcement officers and private investigators when a target vehicle moves.  Using GPS tracking software, agencies have the capability to follow the tracked vehicle with great accuracy.

Construction Companies: With both heavy equipment, and expensive items such as air conditioners, appliances, and more at stake, construction companies use GPS tracking devices to protect the costly items they store on construction sites.   GPS trackers can be placed on items such as dump trucks and bulldozers, as well as central air conditioning units and refrigerators. In the event of theft, these items are much more likely to be quickly recovered.   In some cases, insurance companies offer premium discounts for items equipped with GPS.

Home Services:  Business which provide in-home services, such as medical supply companies, contractors, plumbers, HVAC companies, and more often use GPS tracking devices for fleet tracking.  With GPS tracking software, fleet managers have the ability to determine efficient routes, and know exactly where every vehicle is at any time of day.

GPS Tracking for a Greener Business

Did you know that GPS tracking technology, particularly fleet tracking, can help make your business a greener business? It’s true, GPS tracking is an excellent way to make your business a greener business. Here’s how:

Reduced Fuel Consumption: GPS tracking allows you to reduce fuel consumption (and costs) through efficiency and reduced driving speeds.   With GPS tracking software, business owners can easily determine the most efficient routes of travel for their drivers, determine which vehicle is in the best position to respond to service calls, and monitor employees’ driving speeds.   Reduced fuel consumption equals a reduced carbon emission which means a reduced carbon footprint for your business.

Reduce Your Paper Trail: GPS tracking systems can help you achieve a paperless office through the automated reporting options offered with GPS tracking software.   From automated mileage reports, service logs, and attendance monitoring, GPS tracking systems allow you to operate your business efficiently and effectively while reducing the amount of paper required.

GPS Tracking for Employees

With GPS tracking and fleet tracking becoming an everyday component of businesses everywhere, business owners who have or plan to implement GPS technology have a lot of questions about how to encourage their employees’ support of GPS tracking technology.   GPS tracking actually provides your employees with several great benefits.

Recognition for Outstanding Work : With fleet tracking technology at work for your business, it’s simple to determine which employees are going the extra mile.  With GPS tracking technology installed in every vehicle of your fleet, you’ll have the accurate data you need to recognize excellent performance–something appreciated by employees who are performing their jobs well, and who may otherwise go unnoticed.

Fewer Liabilities: With GPS fleet tracking,  employees are far less likely to be falsely accused of being involved in accidents, traffic violations and more. Fleet tracking provides you and your employees with their exact locations at all times.

Accurate Payroll: For some employees, there is always the question of whether their pay fully compensates them for their hours worked.   GPS tracking for businessses provides an excellent method of tracking how long your employees spend on the job, assuring that everyone receives the compensation they’ve earned.

Research at Ohio State University is providing more information on tracking underground nuclear tests from thousands of miles away through GPS tracking technology, as detailed in a presentation at the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization meeting in Vienna.

Researchers hope the added use of GPS tracking technology, in addition seismic activity and chemical sensors already in use, will provide concrete evidence on underground nuclear tests, by pinpointing precisely when and where tests occur.

When a powerful underground  nuclear test occurs, it creates changes in the Earth’s upper atmosphere, known as the ionisphere.  The ionispheric changes are detectable by GPS tracking satellites, alerting scientists to the possibility of an underground nuclear test.   The use of GPS tracking in this manner is still in development, with one of the biggest challenges being the ability to recognize the difference between an earthquake and an underground nuclear test.

According to the LaCrosse Tribune, a newly introduced Wisconsin bill is asking for GPS tracking devices for repeat offenders of protection orders issued through Wisconsin courts.  The GPS tracking bill stems from “Cindy’s Law”, an Illinois law requiring GPS tracking of repeat violators of protective orders, which was named in tribute to a woman killed by her boyfriend three  years ago.

Since Illinois enacted the GPS tracking legislation, other states have followed suit, including Minnesota and Indiana.  If the bill passes in Wisconsin, the GPS tracking services would be funded by the offenders themselves through a $200 surcharge for every violator of a protective order.

Nineteen people in Detroit are suspects in a nationwide theft ring, partly attributed to the use of  covert GPS tracking devices.  According to police, the suspects targeted specific jewelry shops and watch stores, often asking to view high-end jewelry and watches before running out the door and jumping into a getaway car without paying for the merchandise.

The theft ring appears to have been somewhat sophisticated in that the stolen merchandise was often tossed into a second car shortly after the theft to prevent it from being found  in the vehicle seen leaving the scene.  With covert GPS tracking devices, officers were able to confirm the location of multiple cars in each operation,  thereby linking the suspects to the stolen items. The case involves 19 Detroit individuals in robberies spanning 22 states over a five year timeframe.
